Rose Marie Carnefix

April 16, 2013

Rose Marie Carnefix, 74, died peacefully on April 16, 2013, with her family by her side. Rose Marie was born on Oct. 15, 1938, in Seattle to Anthony Samuel and Nettie Maxine (Niles) Gamba. On Aug. 20, 1960, she married the love of her life, Jack Henderson Carnefix, in Carson City, Nev. She was honored to be a Navy wife as Jack’s 21-year career as a United States naval aviator took them from California to Massachusetts and back, then to Oklahoma and Texas where he retired, and they moved back to Oklahoma. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles since 1991, when she became a charter member of auxiliary #4277 in Stillwater. She took great pride in having her name in their records on official charter receipt #001, and she held almost every local chair, including the past 15 years as secretary. She was inducted into the Oklahoma State Auxiliary Hall of Fame in 2013 and the Grand Auxiliary Hall of Fame Award in 2012. Rose Marie was proud to have been a part of the Oklahoma State University athletic ticket office for more than 20 years. She originally agreed to help out for two weeks, and retired as athletic ticket manager in 1997.
