Edna Gladys Jungers, 97, was born Feb. 4, 1916, in Batavia, Wis. She married Capt. Richard Jungers who later became professor of education at Oklahoma State University. Edna attended the Sheboygan County Teachers College, University of Wisconsin and OSU where she completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education with emphasis in reading. She continued her education in school Administration. Edna served on the staff of Stillwater Public Schools 21 years as a classroom teacher, elementary principal, director of the Reading Improvement Program, director of Elementary Education and assistant superintendent. Edna held offices in many professional organizations including the Oklahoma Reading Council and International Reading Association. She was elected to honorary memberships in Delta Kappa Pi and Phi Kappa Phi. She served as president of Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa lota, Phi Mu Alumni, the OSU College Education Alumni Board and Stillwater Women’s Club. Much of Edna’s volunteer service was with the Pleasant Valley School project. Edna was a founding member of the board of directors, planned curriculum, obtained authentic educational materials, trained docents, scheduled classes and taught.
