Key, James

James Key, 85, was born to John Otis and Ruth Alexander Key, on April 25, 1936 in Lawrenceburg Key and passed away on September 13, 2021.  Following high school graduation, he attended the University of Tennessee where he earned his bachelor's degree in agricultural education.  Following graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force as a transport pilot and squadron training officer.  Later, he received his master's degree in vocational education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.  From the North Carolina State University, he was awarded his doctoral degree in occupational education.  Jim began teaching at OSU in September 1969 and retired in 1998 although he continued to teach a research design course for master's and doctoral students through the 2021 spring semester.  In addition, Jim served in the Air Force National Guard for more than 20 years.  Besides teaching, Jim served in Kairos Prison Ministry from 1994 until 2021 and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) beginning in 1999.  In addition, he served on the board of directors of the OSU Wesley Foundation Student Center for more than 25 years as well as held a variety of positions at Highland Park United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jesse and John.  He is survived by his wife, Jean, his daughter Cindy Jenkins (David) of Goodwell, OK, and by his son Jim (Karen) of Marietta, GA.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Will Jenkins (Rachel), Sarah Jenkins Fischer (Braden), in addition to Elizabeth Key and Laura Key.  Also surviving are three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
