OSU Emeriti Council Meeting Minutes

Executive Committee Members Present: Mike Lorenz, Priscilla Gerfen, Kent Sampson, Kay Keys, Ron Elliott
Council Members Present: Gladeen Allred, Barbara Miller, Rick Beier, Francis Epplin, Gary Sherrer
Committee Chairs Present: Clem Ward, Zane Quible
Emeriti Support Present: Sofia Gustafson
Agenda: The agenda consisted of only one item, whether or not to hold a regular dinner meeting on October 18.
Decisions: Mike suggested that an invitation requiring an RSVP be sent to the membership and that we hold the dinner meeting only if our pre-determined minimum of 30 is met. The Council agreed. Clem reported that the caterer, Mexico Joe’s, required a minimum of 25 people in order to serve the buffet and that all catering staff would be masked.
Mike will work with Sofia to create the invitation, which will include the following information:
- That masks are expected except when eating
- That hand sanitizer will be provided at the beginning and end of the buffet line
- That the deadline for response is October 8
One final decision made by the Council was to set the tables for 6 rather than 8 for this dinner.
Reports: Barbara reported on the Faculty Council meeting. She will email her report directly to everyone.
Comments: In closing, Mike reported that the University wants Emeriti members to continue to be represented on the various committees. He has asked Anne Matoy to serve on the Council and also to replace Bob Wettemann on Benefits. She is considering the offer.
