Joy Evans

Joy Evans, 80, passed away on December 1, 2014. She was born on July 24, 1934, in Prescott, Arkansas. Her parents were teachers, and her father was also a minister. They eventually settled in Enid were Joy attended high school and Phillips University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in art, in addition to a teaching certificate, and she completed a master’s degree in industrial art education at OSU in the 1980s. She and her husband, Conrad Evans, were married in 1955, until he passed away in 2011. She and Conrad lived in Ethiopia for 12 years as OSU employees. Joy also taught art for a number of years including in Morrison, Stillwater, Perkins, and in Denison, TX. At the time of her retirement, she worked for Architectural Services at OSU. She had several passions, including growing ornamental flowers, singing in church choirs, and cooking, including ethnic cuisine. She is survived by two sons, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
