Sammie Harp

Sammie Lee Harp, 71, was born on June 18, 1943, in Coweta, OK, and passed away March 19, 2015, in Oklahoma City. He and his two sisters were raised on a ranch near Broken Arrow. From 1960-1963, he served in the U.S. Army. In 1971, he received a degree in drafting and design from Oklahoma State Tech; in 1978 and 1982, respectively, he received a B.S. degree in technical education and a M.S. degree in agricultural engineering from Oklahoma State. He was a licensed Professional Engineer and worked for OSU for 30 years, attaining the rank of associate professor in the Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering department. He devoted his career to the OSU Cooperative Extension Service. At OSU, he established the Applications Engineer Program and worked with the New Product Development Center. Sam also served for many years as the chair of the Payne County Excise Board. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and a sister and is survived by his wife, Sheila, of Perkins, a daughter, Samantha Hubbard and husband Jordan and a son, Mike, and his wife Becky of Wagoner. He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandson, as well as a sister.
