George Brenner

George M. Brenner, 74, was born on September 19, 1943, in Ottawa, KS, and passed away on May 11, 2018, in Richmond, VA. He was raised on the family farm near Princeton, KS. George receive the B.S. degree in Pharmacy in 1966 at the University of Kansas and received in 1971 the first Ph.D. degree awarded by KU in Pharmacology and Toxicology. George and Mary Ann Robinson were married on August 21, 1966; and to this union, daughter Sharon and son John were born. In 1976, the Brenner family moved to Tulsa, OK, were George served as a professor at the Center for Health Sciences of Oklahoma State. For 14 of those years, he served as chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology. During his career, George received a number of teaching awards and was the author of a pharmacology textbook. In 2005, George and Mary Ann returned to Lawrence, KS. In 2017, they moved to Richmond, VA, to be closer to family. George is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, daughter Sharon Brenner, grandsons Ciaran Jones and Braith Jones as well as by son John (Dannielle) and granddaughters Lexi and Sophia. He is also survived by his brother James and sister Brenda Grasmick.
