Carwin Edward Henderson, 88, was born to Carwin Leroy and Ruby (Ethridge) Henderson on May 31, 1930, near Bixby, OK, and passed away in Stillwater, OK, on October 28, 2018. He graduated from Bixby High School in 1948 and graduated from Oklahoma A&M College in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree in animal science and an ROTC commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Ed served two years active duty and 18 years active reserve, retiring as a Major in the U.S. Army in 1975. Ed and Roberta Fay Knowles were married on January 28, 1956, in Arnett, OK. Ed served as a vocational agriculture teacher at Schuyler High School in Schuyler, NE, from 1955-1965 and as an instructor (rural development specialist) at the University of Nebraska from 1965-1970. In 1970, he began as a rural development specialist in the Cooperative Extension Service, Agriculture Economics Department, in the College of Agriculture at Oklahoma State University, serving 21 counties in Northeast Oklahoma. Following his retirement in 1993, he was active in several organizations including the Muskogee Regional Livestock Show, Northeast Solid Waste Authority, and the Fort Gibson Methodist Church. He was also chaplain for the Muskogee Corp of Gideons International from 2010-2015. His wife Roberta predeceased him in 2016. He is survived by sons Larry, Jerry (Susan), Terry (Beth) and daughter Rhonda (Jeff) Johnson, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
