David E. Sisler

David E. Sisler, 89, was born in Roanoke, VA, on August 12, 1929, to G.E. and Mary Carter Sisler, and passed away in Sioux Falls, SD, on December 7, 2018. After Dave graduated from high school, he entered the Air Force in 1950, serving in Okinawa during the Korean conflict. In 1954, he began his college career at Virginia Polytechnical University, graduating in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. Dave spent several years as a U.S. Park Ranger in Yorktown, VA, before he began a career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, working in several states, before locating in Stillwater. He and Grovalynn Foreman Gould were married on April 25, 1969. After retiring from the USDA in 1979, Dave took a job in the purchasing department at OSU until he and Lynn both retired in 1997. During their early retirement years, they traveled through the United States and Europe. In 2015, Dave and Lynn moved to Sioux Falls, SD, to be near their daughter Jana Gould (Robert) Lowery. Dave is survived by his wife, Lynn, his daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Robert Lowery, three grandsons, and three great granddaughters.
